Help for Nelson Amador & his family

Donation protected

As you may know, Nelson hurt his back weeks ago lifting 5 gallon water jugs. He’s normally been able to lift these without a problem. But on 3/9, he had a shooting pain in his back that ultimately sent him to the emergency room. While there, they performed an x-ray and c-t scan. They also noticed trauma to his kidney. The doctors at Sparrow Eaton admitted him and took him my ambulance to Sparrow in Lansing where he stayed for 5 days. He had lots of testing including a bone biopsy & bone marrow biopsy. The test results conclude he has Multiple Myleoma, a rare blood cancer. He is in stage 2 of stage 3. He is unable to work right now and we don’t know when or if he will be able to return to work. He will receive short term disability, but that’s about 1/2 of normal pay. There are a lot of unknowns right now.

Nelson is undergoing chemotherapy treatments and in the future he will need a bone marrow / stem cell transplant at U of M.

This has been a huge upset to our family as you can imagine. Nelson is in a lot of pain and can barely walk let alone do other daily functions due to the pain. He is a very proud man and doesn’t ask for much, ever. And is always willing to help his friends and family.

We don’t know what the future holds for our little family, but we appreciate your love, prayers & support along the way. Thank you.
