Our darling boy left us Monday night, after a brave fight with Sepsis and multiple organ failure. We were truly blessed to be his parents for the 15+ years of his earthy life. He was the best son and beloved brother to Emily.

It was a beautiful, dignified passing. He was asleep and sedated , SickKids staff took us up to the roof with his bed and equipment he felt the sun on his skin just before sunset, we fed him swabs of several of his favourite sodas (root beer, pineapple Fanta, cream soda), played relaxing music from Deltarune on his tablet and they gently removed the breathing tube. They took him back downstairs to a private room where we were able to lie in bed with him. He passed peacefully at 7:20 pm with mum and dad cuddling him, like on the day he was born. The PICU staff said it was one of the most beautiful, loving, dignified passings they’d seen and remained with us standing vigil when needed. Thank you Sick Kids Hospital, the Canadian Healthcare system and to all of you holding us in your hearts during this time. ️

Your kind words of condolences, shared fond memories of Aaron, and check-ins have been a blessing to Moira, Steven, Emily, and the entire family.
