OK. It's been about two years or so that our finances started suffering, but still managed to stay afloat. In 2016, my mother Rosa was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Without giving it a thought, I quit my job to be with her through her treatment. She was hospitalized for about a month and a half, and I was there every single day except Sunday, August 21. That day I took the kids back-to-school shopping, because they started school the next day. Five days later my mom went into respiratory distress and into coma. She passed away on August 28,2016. I was depressed for some time; and couldn’t go back to work.
Mike had oil and gas related deals we were confident would close, so I/we relied on that alone. We made it to next year, 2017, just barely, but we made it. In February of 2017 we experienced another loss. Mike's mom, Linda, passed away after post-op complications. Everything bad seems to happen in threes and four months later our family dog Kiana died, also. All the while Mike was still working on his deals, and they were keeping us afloat. I made the decision to enroll in school. From August of 2017 to May of this year, I studied to become a Patient Care Technician/CNA and was top student for the year. I still have two more certification exams to take, but I have also been applying everywhere I can and know of to get out of this situation. Nothing yet, but I know it's all in God's time. In January Mike had hernia surgery and couldn’t do any physical work for almost 6 weeks while he was healing.
An oil company still owes us a lot of money from work Mike had completed for them months ago that has been promising to pay and we believed that they would since they had before. We have only received more promises that they will pay “next week” and that they are working on it and will now pay “next Friday” after a deal closes. That faith in the oil company for the past few months has led to us losing our house last month and forced to stay with various friends, so our three kids have a place to sleep at night. We are now down to our last bit of money staying at budget motels.
Never in a million years did I think I'd be worrying about where my three kids would be sleeping. Telling them that all will be fine (I know it will) except I don't know when or how. Mike has been left hanging on some deals. Some of that income was to be invested in a new business Mike is launching, so now he can't move forward with that. And as I mentioned I'm still getting ready for my phlebotomy exam to then test for a national certification as a hemodialysis tech.
Whatever help we can get is eternally appreciated. If it's just enough to get us through a few days or weeks or enough for us to get our kids into a home until at least one of us is earning an income, every penny and every generous intention is forever cherished. We are personally committed to return the favor to anyone else in need as soon as we are in a stable position to do so.
Thank you in advance and God bless you.
