Our dear friend Matt Probst continues to courageously fight his battle with cancer. Currently, he is hospitalized after undergoing tracheostomy surgery, and is struggling immensely. Matt is now dependent on a feeding tube and also has a trach, which both require constant care and specific supplies. Matt desperately desires to go home and live his days in peace, but going home would require that he have all of these supplies there. Yesterday, we learned that insurance will only cover a short term supply, after which he would be responsible for paying full price, out of pocket.
His pain levels are unbearable at times, even with medication. The most effective medication is not paid for by insurance and costs Matt ~$1000 monthly. This does not include other prescriptions, hopsital bills, etc. With all he and his family have on their plate, the last thing they should be concerned with is how they will pay for these expenses.
Though he is unable to speak, I was able to visit with Matt today and communicate through writing. He said this page would be extremely helpful to his family and that he would be very thankful for any support.
If the future looks anything like the past, Matt will prove his doctors wrong and far outlive their predictions! I asked him yesterday, "How do you keep fighting?" His response was "I don't know how to stop." I'm sure this does not surprise any of you.
His precious mother, Elisa, is taking care of Matt around the clock. She will send updates when she is able; she also posts periodically on her personal Facebook page. Matt also checks his Facebook when he feels well enough, so feel free to communicate with him there. I know he would love to hear from you all.
Thank you for any amount you can give to help this wonderful family.
