Help for Lul's children
Donation protected
Saturday, June 9th was a tragic day in Burlington. Two young mothers were involved in a car accident. One, Lul Gure, was killed in the crash. The other was injured but has been released from the hospital.
Lul Gure
Lul was the mother of 7 children, ranging in age from 18 months to 12 years old. Four of these children are enrolled in Burlington Schools. Three of the children are IAA students, and one is a student at Hunt Middle School. As relatively recent arrivals to our community, these students have been working hard to learn English and adjust to life in the US. The tragic loss of their mother will change their lives forever. The future of the children is uncertain right now.

Although money cannot replace Lul, who was the heart of this family, it can provide for some of the family's needs in a time of extreme grief and inevitable transition. The family will need help with funeral expenses as well as daily living expenses such as food for the children. Please join the Burlington School District in providing support to help these children and their family. All are New Americans who will need the generosity and caring of their Burlington community to move forward.
The organizer of this campaign is the Director of Programs for English Learners at the Burlington School District. Lul’s husband, Said Elmi, will be set up as the beneficiary of this campaign, and will be withdrawing the funds directly to help support their children.
Feel free to share this fundraiser broadly with anyone who might wish to support the children. Every share counts!
