Help for Lovely Qadour Family

Meet the lovely Qadour Family!

Riyad and Zuhreieh Qadour fled their war-torn country of Syria with their 6 children three years ago.  They spent two difficult years in a refugee camp in Jordan and were finally granted refugee status  last yearto settle in the US.  We are so happy that they've come to sunny San Diego!

All eight of them live in a small apartment and are currently depending on meager public and private non-profit resources and support to begin their new lives here in America.

They are a friendly, gracious, welcoming family-- I met them recently and they are so sweet, especially the children who greeted me with smiles from ear-to-ear, even though  they have been through unimaginable hardship as such young kids!

If you can make a donation to my GoFundMe page, I would be incredibly grateful.   They need rent assistance especially.

Additional information:

1. Who Am I? My name is Jeanny Chen and I am a volunteer with Heart4Refugees, a nonprofit organization based in San Diego that seeks to ensure the 1000 Syrian refugees who have been resettled here are supported during their transition to new lives in America. ( https://www.facebook.com/Heart4Refugees/?fref=nf).

2. Where am I from? I too, am an immigrant from China. I left China as a 11-year old more than 30 years ago, seeking political freedom and economic opportunity here in America.  I am so grateful to all who helped me and my family get up on our feet and I now wish to do the same for the Qadour family.

Erin Brant, another lovely San Diegan, is partnering with me to help the Qadours.  In fact, she has already done a lot to get things started, in terms of getting some basic items to the family.

3. How do Erin and I know the Qadour Family? They are our "adopted" family!   We met them through the Heart4Refugees organization https://www.facebook.com/Heart4Refugees/?fref=nf)
and the Syrian Community Network here in San Diego.  Erin has been helping now for several month, while I just met them this week:-).

4. How will the funds will be used? In addition to providing the needed items specified by the Qadours, the funds will help pay for rent and other necessities, including food, clothing, utilities, books for the children, internet and phone services.

5. Will funds be given directly to the family? No. Heart4Refugees strongly recommends the funds be used on the family's behalf rather than being delivered directly to the family (for example, it is better to pay rent to the family's landlord than it is to just give cash to the family). This way, volunteers can coordinate to ensure the maximum number of families get what they need. I will work  with the family to determine every month how much is needed to help pay for the rent and utilities and withdrawn funds accordingly.
