Jihad has been one of my dearest friends for years. He was one of the first people to extend a welcoming hand when I transferred to Drew and helped me feel welcome and accepted. He is one of the most giving, selfless people I know. He’d give the shirt off his back for someone even if it was the last one he owned. At Drew many people knew him as a fair and generous leader and dedicated member of many clubs. He was known on campus for being a light and bringing up the energy in any situation. After college he spent years dedicating his life to being a positive role model, mentor, and teacher to at-risk youth in California. Now it is time for us to give back to him. Despite his kind and wonderful soul, he unfortunately has had bad luck with securing safety and security over the course of many years. He’s had to move several times which is incredibly costly and stressful, and he’s quietly struggled trying to make it through these challenges. He has dreams of getting a master’s degree to become a math teacher, but having to move so much has really put a pause on that. He is one of the most resilient people I know and has overcome so much adversity and somehow still remains a pleasant, wonderful, and gracious person. He now faces another challenge and has to move again. I’ve set up this fundraising page because he’s too humble to ask for help but I hope we all can show him he is not alone and that we’re here to support him and help him secure a safe and stable living space, something everyone deserves as a basic right. There is no one in the world like Jihad, we need people like him, so let’s ensure that the world’s challenges don’t limit his ability to shine and thrive.
