Hi, My name is Kimberly, and I'm raising money for my son James, for any medical expences and medical equipment he may need along with help for bills while not working so we dont fall behind. James has now had 5 brain surgeries, 3 shunt implants, 2 eye surgeries and radiation. Sunday, March 27th we found James unresponsive unable to wake him up and he aspersted, so we had him rushed to the hospital where we found out he has a severe case of hydrocephalus and was only progresing (if we diden't find James when we did he would of lost his life) and they told us the shunt that was implanted into James has malfunctioned and was rushed into surgery to replace that shunt and drain the extra fluid out of is brain (there was double the amount of fluid then there was suposed to be). We went into PICU to be monitored, James had a breathing tube to help him breath while being in and out of it and them doing scan after scan and test after test he started getting a little beter then took a turn and was unresponsive again and after more scans was sent back to surgey to replace the shunt again and then later that nigh also placed an EVD (outside shunt with a tube coming out of his head) and then was told all we can do now is hope and pray he will wake up and be ok. Doctors were uable to tell us why this is happening and confused themselves on why this is happening and on what to do. After them doing all the procedures they can do and doing more tests and watching the pressure of his head all we could do is wait. After a couple days of waiting James started to be a little bit responsive and waking up.He is still being monitored closely. James definitly has a very long recovery time ahead of him and only time will tell if he has any brain damage and they are unable to tell me if this will happen again.We were also told he will need to go to a rehab facility to get better. James is a fun loving , funny , active, smart and out going kid with a lot of people that love and miss him.
