I am writing this letter from a special place in my heart. Hurricane Harvey has been a catastrophic disaster, leaving many without homes, food, and belongings. Hurricane Harvey has left one of our own, Stylist Madavy Keo, in a very difficult situation. Madavy’s mother was a refugee fleeing Phnom Penh, Cambodia from a tyrant-like leader. About 12-years ago, she moved to Texas where she built the best years of her life. She resides in a small town called Rosharon, which reminds her of her home in Cambodia.
In the wake of the hurricane, Madavy’s mother, stepfather, siblings, and grandmother were forced to relocate to an evacuation camp outside of Dallas for the duration of hurricane. When they returned to their home, they came face to face with the severe damages that the hurricane caused to their mobile home and farmlands. Now, Madavy’s mother, stepfather, sister and little brother are left living in a tent outside of their home because the hurricane has left parts their home in unlivable conditions. The damage to their home and their crops has left her family in a very unfortunate position; their food supply and savings are running low.
Madavy Keo has worked with us for over 3 years and is an integral part of the Salon Acote team. After hearing the news, I wanted to help her. She is part of the Salon Acote Family and families help each other in their times of need. In light of this, Salon Acote will be donating 15% of our retail sales from today through November 30th to Madavy’s family to help them get back on their feet. I would also like to ask for donations. Any donation, no matter how big or how small, will help her family get back on their feet and return to normal life. If you would like to donate, we have a donation box in the salon. You can also follow this link and donate on the gofundme page that I have created. Anything and everything is greatly appreciated. From our family to yours, we would like to thank you.
