Steve Burke is a wonderful soul & sadly, also a homeless veteran living in downtown Matthews. My son & I have gotten to know him over the past few months & it has been laid on my heart to advocate on his behalf to raise funds to help him reinstate his Commercial Driving License.
Steve is eager to return to driving a truck and rebuild his life. I believe he will be a good steward of any help he is given. Our family is helping him in a few different ways, and my child Henry has even committed to donating a portion of his weekly yardwork earnings toward this fund.
The immediate need is to raise funds so Steve can reinstate his CDL and become gainfully employed again. Without this license, Steve is unable to return to work in his field, and the barriers to getting back on his feet are significant. The funds raised will go directly toward covering his CDL and DMV fees, as well as providing three nights in a hotel. This will give Steve a safe place to rest, shower, and store his belongings while he applies for jobs, giving him the dignity and stability he needs to move forward.
God bless and thank you so very, very much for taking the time to read this story and donate. Your support and prayers in helping Steve get back on his feet mean so much to Steve & I both & will help change his life for the better.
“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me... And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.” ~ Matthew 25:40.
