Help for Homeless Marine with Mystery Illness
Donation protected
Many of you know me as proprietress of Tigger’s Angel Paws. I have been a part of this community for years, mainly as a pet sitter, pet adventurer, and pet rescuer. You know I live for the rescue and the happy reunion of families.
Now it is time to rescue my own family and I need your help.
My brother has been in deep distress and need of medical care, and I am putting myself out there with you, to try to save his life and help him start over.
Lonny, a marine and martial arts aficionado, has fallen on hard times, and the current medical establishment has been unable to accurately diagnose and treat him. He is currently living in a care facility that he must vacate by Monday, and he desperately wants to move in with his sister, that’s me, but we are unable to find suitable housing that we can afford together. We need a place that will allow me to continue my pet-sitting care business, and that has been a problem because many rental properties do not allow pets. It will also need to accommodate Lonny’s care needs.
Lon is in a wheelchair, unable to walk, partially blind, in grievous pain, and fully deaf.
His mystery illness is getting worse, and going from hospital to hospital with no one able to help is wearing on him terribly. The mystery illness has caused painful neuropathy and horrific total body pain that medication does not seem to touch. As a result, he is losing hope that life will ever get back to normal.
There is hope that the VA Hospital in Los Angeles may be able to help, but the red tape involved has been overwhelming and terribly slow, leaving him currently with nowhere to go.
My dream here for my brother and me is to be able to purchase a van that will both provide wheelchair access and be able to let us continue to go on doggie adventures, pet walks, and search and rescue events. In addition, we would like to expand Tigger’s Angel Paws to include pets with disabilities. Perhaps Lonny and I could inspire others to join in the support of all those, animals included, who are experiencing difficulties or disabilities in their lives.
This URGENT GoFundMe is asking for your financial help in getting us a place to live, paying for medical treatment that insurance won't cover, and getting Lon on a track where the medical community can actually diagnose and treat him. We are looking for $6,000 for the first month’s rent and deposit as soon as possible. Thank you kindly in advance.
