Tragic Loss To Your LKN CLT Friend Michael Havens

I hope you're doing well. I never thought I’d be in a position where I’d need to ask for help, but here I am, and it feels surreal. I’ve always been the one organizing fundraisers for causes I care about, whether it was for breast cancer with Havenstock or helping raise funds for our local community working with bands like Blue Monday and Scott & Woody at places like Dirty Martini, On The Roxx, and Rusty Rudder. But now, I find myself in need of help, and I have to swallow my pride and reach out.

The past few months have been incredibly hard, and I’m struggling in ways I never expected. I recently moved back to NC to the Wilmington area, hoping for a fresh start after losing my business partner in a tragic way to suicide and losing my company because of it. I had big plans to rebuild and get back on my feet, but life has thrown me some curveballs that I’m still trying to figure out. After moving in with roommates, I ended up being taken advantage of. They were taking my rent money while not paying their own. Eventually, they were evicted, and when I came home one day, I found myself locked out, all of my belongings gone, and my bank accounts drained. In addition I ended up losing my precious cat Felix during the melee.

It’s been a painful and confusing time, and now I’m homeless, jobless, and trying to pick up the pieces. In fact, this is a news interview that I did the other night while in a homeless shelter in Wilmington. I’m reaching out now because I’m doing everything I can just to survive. Whether it’s advice, job leads, or even just a small donation to help me get through the day, anything would make a huge difference right now.
