Help for families: Devastating Freshly Thai Fire Feb 2023

On Friday, February 3, 2023 at 11am and on the coldest day reported in 5 years, a fire broke out at the Freshly Thai Restaurant which is located in the heart of downtown Brampton, Ontario, Canada.

In the news, the fire department says cause of fire was due to a homeless encampment in the neighbouring driveway where a fire was lit within proximity to four propane tanks which then exploded.

It is a miracle and I am extremely grateful and happy to hear that not one person was injured however many businesses were evacuated and roads were closed as firefighters worked to put out the fire. Working for an hour, the fire was extinguished by Noon. The entire restaurant is burned down and is now forced to stay closed while clean up and renovations occur. This is expected to take approximately 4 to 6 months we are told.

I along with many friends have travelled an hour just to eat at this excellent authentic Thai cuisine restaurant where the food is always fresh and delicious and the ambience is comfortable, comforting and beautiful. The food is always served with a smile and an upbeat, happy and positive attitude. The energy in the restaurant is one I can only describe as flowing like a river downstream, authentic and heartfelt and all because of the owners and their staff.

Freshly Thai is owned and operated by Suporn and her two sisters who decided to open a vegan friendly and gluten free Thai food restaurant in 2010. Attention to food, service and their well kept restaurant was their plan along with deciding to open on a busy, downtown corner in Brampton. Everyone loved their food and service and Freshly Thai was a success from its first days.

Freshly Thai also offered catering services to which I have also had the privilege of eating their delicious foods along with many others during retreats I attended to which they were commissioned to cater.

This is a difficult time for all involved, a huge loss to Suporn, her sisters and their families. It is also a huge loss to all their customers who love to dine at Freshly Thai.

This Gofundme has been created to raise money to ease the financial burden for these families that have been affected and devastated over the loss of their livelihood, their beloved Freshly Thai restaurant.
