Facing Six Tragedies With Amazing Strength and Prayer
This picture is of my dear friend Debbie Dowdal of Egg Harbor City, NJ and her family. Debbie thought her battle with cancer was over in 2018 when her doctors told her they believed she had beaten triple negative breast cancer, but she had already faced four major tragedies before 2018.
When bad things happen to good people it is hard to understand why. But this is the situation with my dear friend Debbie . I have known Debbie since she was about 18 and now she is 62 . We lost track of each other for several years and then rekindled our friendship when Debbie contacted me on face book and asked if I would ask my dear Prayer Warriors to pray for her to survive a diagnosis of breast cancer. As if this wasn’t bad enough, I soon learned that tragedy had been hitting her life with both barrels.
In 2015 Debbie was driving on the Garden State headed for home. Suddenly a tractor trailer made an illegal turn on an overpass and Debbie’s car slammed under it. He dragged her for a bit before he realized she was stuck under his rig. Debbie still has pains caused by her injuries but she knows she was lucky to live through that accident.
In 2016 her 34 year old daughter died leaving four children without their mother. Eleven months after that the father of three of the children also passed away and Debbie moved them into her home where she is raising them now. Fifteen days after the grandchildren lost their father, their grandfather, Debbie’s husband of 40 years passed away after years of fighting pulmonary fibrosis leaving the responsibility for raising the three kids on this willing and able grandmother. But the bad things were not over yet.
Debbie was diagnosed with the triple negative breast cancer in 2018. After two years of chemo the doctors thought she had beaten that cancer and Debbie was looking forward to a good life with her grandkids, but in 2020 Debbie’s cancer came back with a vengeance in her lymph nodes and she was told that her condition is incurable, inoperable and terminal. Debbie never hesitated to tell the doctors to do whatever they needed to do to keep her alive as long as possible because she didn’t want to let her grandkids down. They had already suffered enough loss. The chemo is horrific and the side effects painful, but she wants to live longer to be sure the kids are okay. Now, with not much income the bills tend to pile up and this is why I started this Go Fund Me for Debbie.
Times are tough these days, I know, but they are much harder for some. Please help me help this dear lady with a donation no matter how small. It all adds up. And just as important, please keep Debbie and her grandchildren in your prayers.
