Hey Friends and family,

My name is Corrine, Dao’s mom and baby Mateo’s grandma and I’m setting up this GoFund me to try and assist with expenses while Baby Mateo is fighting to recover from the serious illness he came upon when he was just 18 days old.

My grandson Mateo was born on 7/28/2021 and had to be taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital ER on on August 15th, 2021 for being lethargic, not feeding, fussy, eyes kept rolling back in his head. We were sent home with the diagnosis of Colic.

The next day on August 16th his primary doctor called and wanted us to bring him in for a follow up appointment. We got him ready for his appointment and baby Mateo had two seizures. We took him to his appointment and were told to take him back to the ER for further work up. Within 45mins of being in the ER he started having seizures again and at 10:30 pm baby Mateo had coded three times and had to be resuscitated.

At 1:30 am Mateo he was diagnosed with GBS Meningitis and Sepsis and he had to be intubated and air lifted an hour away to Oakland Children’s Hospital PICU where he currently remains on a ventilator fighting for his life.

Mateo unfortunately has had numerous seizures during his hospital stay and his EEG and MRI results show inflammation around his brain which the neurologist said is a side effect of the meningitis. They have told us it does not look good but we are praying so hard for our sweet baby.

This specific type of bacterial meningitis is extremely rare and there are serious side effects that he could live with for the rest of his life.

The pediatric team, infectious disease control, and neurologist are working so hard to get Mateo back to health and we are beyond thankful. Mateo has a long road of recovery ahead of him but we are praying that he pulls through. He is our little warrior!

During all of this my daughter Dao has not left his side day and night and sleeps in a recliner next to him in the PICU. If our sweet Mateo pulls through it could take weeks to months until he is well enough to return home.

Please help baby Mateo and Dao however way you can. I am setting up this account to try and ease the finical burdens that’s coming to cover costs for therapies, medications, EEG testing, MRI imaging, emergency visits, hospital and PICU stays, deductible costs, testing, and anything else he may need through out his lifetime.
