Dear friends, As you are aware our initial target was $1000. We just reached that which is an AMAZING result for our friend Vinod and his family. He is incredibly appreciative & humble. After much consideration & discussion with Vinod tonight I have moved the target amount to $2500. This would cover the TOTAL purchase price of his car.......What an amazing feat that would be!! His next travel booking is in October, who knows how things will go re: Covid and travel restrictions by then?? Bottom line is “The more we raise the less he owes” and in turn the more benefit to his entire family & community. I appreciate that many have donated already but if we could share as much as possible then we may move closer towards really changing the lives of some really special people. THANKYOU.
Please read my original post .... Nikki and I met Vinod Bhatt when we travelled to Jaipur, India in 2018. Vinod lives in the Kathapulti community (slum) with his parents, 6 brothers, their wives and 12 nieces & nephews. We were so warmly welcomed into his humble family home and community and were shown the true meaning of friendship, generosity & love. We have been genuine & dear friends ever since . The people in this area are truly desperate due to the COVID crisis. In the last 2 months we have sent money to Vinod who has exclusively used the funds to feed community members. However, when we spoke tonight he was truly desperate. Before the crisis he had purchased a car so he could continue & grow his tourist business, an achievement he was very proud of and no mean feat when living in poverty. He had given his tuk tuk to a brother who needed to generate income for his family. Due to the virus & stalled tourist industry Vinod is now 3 months in arrears on car repayments & faces the prospect of losing his livelihood. It is imperative that he and his family retain ownership of the car so that they have an income when tourism is open. The total owing in arrears is around $500, monthly instalments are around $170. I reckon if we raised $1000 we could make a real difference in the lives of these beautiful people who are much less fortunate than ourselves. Any extra funds raised will go towards feeding the people in the Kathapulti community. PS Never set up a Go Fund Me before but I reckon this one’s a worthy and honourable cause. Any amount would go a long way & would be so appreciated
