Food For Today
Our mission is to help reduce hunger and food waste by providing the critical food transportation, grocery store site support, food warehousing and food distribution needed and providing support to food banks, food pantries and other community partners, to reach the food insecure today and every day.
As we embark on our journey, to “Close the Gap”, we are seeking donations and strategic partnerships with individuals and organizations. who share our vision and are committed to supporting innovative ventures like ours.
“The Gap” - Here’s some “food” for thought:
- The world wastes about 2.5 billion tons of food every year
- The United States discards more food than any other country in the world: nearly 60 million tons — 120 billion pounds — every year.
- Food waste is estimated to be 30-40 percent of the entire US food supply.
- One in 8 households (12.8 percent) experienced food insecurity, or lack of access to an affordable, nutritious diet. An estimated 44.2 million Americans lived in these households.
- One in 20 households (5.1 percent) in the U.S. experienced very low food security, a more severe form of food insecurity, where households report regularly skipping meals or reducing intake because they could not afford more food.
- Over 1 in 6 households with children (17.3 percent) experienced food insecurity, an increase of 40 percent compared to 2021.
At, Food For Today, we have developed a unique solution for food rescue that helps "Close the Gap”. Our team of experienced professionals have worked tirelessly to refine our food rescue, food pickup and food delivery service and validated its market potential working with a local supermarket.
During this beta test phase, Food For Today, was able to help the grocery store go from donating a few boxes of frozen meat, some bakery and non-perishables items a couple of times per week to donating an average of 22 boxes per donation, 3 pickups per week also added produce. The store donated
10,260 lbs. of food over a 90-day period to 2 local food pantries, demonstrating our ability to execute and deliver results.
However, to sustain and to fully realize our vision and capitalize on the opportunities ahead, we require additional funding to build out our operation.
To reach our goals for the first year, we are trying to raise $50,000 to cover startup and operational costs. While we would love for you to provide the entire amount, all donations are appreciated.
