Help Fodei Daboh Overcome Economic Hardship
Donation protected
Fodei Daboh is a beloved friend, colleague and community leader in Koidu, Kono, eastern Sierra Leone. After working in community health care for nearly a decade, Daboh left his job at Partners in Health in 2019 to open his own business selling used motorcycle and bicycle parts. Despite his best efforts, he's struggled to get that business off the ground. Prices have rose in the midst of a terrible economy (inflation hit nearly 50% in 2023 alone), and it's been hard to get the right products at a fair price and attract and retain customers. With six kids at home (three biological and three orphans), one of whom has severe health needs that require frequent trips to the doctor, Daboh took out a microfinance loan from the Nigerian company LAPO. The loan required 33% interest. Without much success in the business, Daboh fell behind on payments, and was threatened with a legal case, and even jail, by LAPO, local government officials, and local police.
Please consider helping Daboh and his family during this difficult phase. At a time when so many of us feel powerless, this small act can drastically change a person's life, and the lives of Daboh's children and broader community. For those who donate, Daboh will provide regular updates on how and his family are doing.
