This GoFundMe will secure seeds and grains for families living in Kwa-Zulu Natal Provinces outside of Underberg, South Africa. Due to USAID funding cuts these families living in rural remote villages are confronted with food insecurity affecting mostly women, single mothers, elderly, and children. The Family Literacy Program [FLP] is a community-based nonprofit organization working to support these families. FLP’s sustainable food initiative needs to raise $20,000 to purchase grains to feed the families and seeds for families to plant gardens to ensure their long-term food stability.
We are a group of American social work students from Bridgewater State University in Massachusetts who went to South Africa on a service-learning travel course in spring 2025 and witnessed firsthand the needs of the Kwa-Zulu women and children. We committed ourselves to supporting these families and ask for your help with raising the funds needed. We accept any donation or any amount that will save the lives of children and women in this part of the world. We are thankful for your consideration of a gift donation.
