Help The Jordan Family
Instead of throwing a baby shower, we have decided that starting a gofundme would be a better decision given the circumstances we are now facing.
At this time we have chosen to call our son, Jesse James Jordan. We love the idea of double initials because most superheroes have double initial names. I do believe it’s something Stan Lee admitted to doing so his characters were easier to remember.
Our son is already our brave little superhero, given the hard news we had received about halfway through pregnancy. His doctors found a defect in his heart known as Transposition of the Great Arteries D- Type.
Though we have all the confidence in his doctors to fix this problem, we are still faced with concern about expenses and keeping up with our already accumulated debt, stress and worry.
It has not been easy for us because this pregnancy is high-risk. Therefore, all of our continued care has been moved to Iowa City, instead of closer to home. I did apply for a job in my first trimester, but due to being pregnant and my Diabetes, working during the pandemic was extremely risky for me, so I resigned even though we desperately needed the money. Taking care of my disease and Jesse had to come first.
Corey, Jesse’s father, has been working nonstop, trying to keep a roof over our heads and food in the fridge. This has been a stressful time for both of us, living paycheck to paycheck, worrying about what we are going to eat or if we will have enough gas for the trip to and from Iowa City, or if the car will break down. We were getting food stamp benefits but due to Corey working as much as he has, we are no longer so lucky. We now rely on WIC and visit the local food pantry once a month on a wednesday.
If you could help us in any way during this stressful time, we would both appreciate it so much. I desperately need 4 new tires on my car before winter. Corey needs a new headlight plus some other essentials.
Besides a crib, a bouncer and a handful of clothing, we have nothing else prepared for the baby's arrival. Unfortunately also due to Covid and it’s restrictions, we will not be having a baby shower so that everyone including the immunocompromised expecting mother can stay safe and healthy. I will be sharing my Amazon Baby Registry if donating money doesn’t sound appealing.
Regarding the news with Jesse’s heart, it’s expected that our hospital stay will be at least a month long for his healing. This will require money for our meals and other expenses. At this time I will stay with my baby in Iowa City. Corey at some point will be required to return to work. I will eventually return to work too, but not for awhile. Since the beginning of my pregnancy to now, I have lowered my A1C from 10.1 all the way down to 5.9 which is very good. After he is born and healed, I will start working again.
Starting this gofundme will give us new expecting parents some peace of mind when it comes to expenses.
If things go as planned, Jesse will be arriving at the beginning of October, 2021. It would be beyond helpful to us, any amount of support you could offer, for we are struggling to stay afloat. Beginning September 1st, I will be required to visit Iowa City every single week for a non-stress test. Being on I-80 with unreliable tires isn’t ideal to me.
We would be more than grateful if you decided to help. THANK YOU so much for taking the time reading our story and possibly deciding to support our lovely little family in any way! Sometimes it can be very difficult admitting you need help.
