Salt Lake City is about to become the ICE hub for Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming, and Colorado, with a planned mega-detention center. When people are released from ICE detention, they are often dropped off with nothing—no phone, no way to reach family or a lawyer, no warm clothing, no food, no water, no money, and no transportation back to their home state. Sometimes, they are released in the middle of the night, with no notification sent to their families. These are not criminals. Many are legal residents and visa holders caught in paperwork backlogs or misidentification, simply trying to do things the right way.

Over the last few years, @LifeOfAShowbus has been converting a 40' school bus into a mobile home. It was in storage for a few months after all the appliances were stolen. When deciding whether to rebuild or sell the bus, we realized this was the perfect opportunity to support people released from ICE detention. The bus will carry phone charging stations and backup phones, hot meals, clean clothing, basic medical supplies, internet connectivity, a warm and safe place to rest, and security cameras for documentation and accountability. Every dollar goes directly into the project and supplies—no overhead, no salaries, and everything fully documented.

Your donation will help us complete the bus build, add battery capacity for overnight operations, expand solar panels, stock up on food and clothing, install phone charging equipment, add exterior lighting, set up networking and camera gear, fuel the vehicle, and give the bus a fresh, welcoming paint job. If you want to help in person and are on the Wasatch Front, we need you! Whether you have skills in electrical, plumbing, networking, welding, woodworking, vehicle maintenance, painting, or just want to pitch in, your support is welcome. Please consider donating or volunteering to help us finish this project and provide a lifeline for those released from ICE detention. Together, we can make sure no one is left behind.
