Help Fight Poverty With Wisconsin Microfinance
Tax deductible
Hi, my name is Evan Lory. I recently joined Wisconsin Microfinance https://wisconsinmicrofinance.com/ as their first-ever Youth Apprentice through a partnership with my high school and the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.
Wisconsin Microfinance is 100% non-profit. Our mission is to empower aspiring entrepreneurs (mostly female) living in extreme poverty (i.e., those living on less than $1.90 per day). We do so by providing small business loans to either those looking to start up a new business or those who want to keep an existing business flourishing.
Our philanthropic philosophy goes well beyond a simple handout. In the words of Bono from the rock band U2, "Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. Give a woman microcredit, she, her husband, her children, and her extended family will eat for a lifetime".
Since our inception, we are proud to boast a 97% repayment rate. Once our loans are repaid, we recirculate those dollars back into the same community via new loans to other aspiring entrepreneurs. This means your generous contribution is not a one-off. Instead, it will carry an everlasting effect on the global fight against extreme poverty.
How the Funds will be used:
This spring, I will be traveling to the Dominican Republic where I will personally hand-deliver 100% of all proceeds to aspiring entrepreneurs in the village of La Piedra. Our average loan is $200. My goal is to provide 15 new loans. Please join me in my journey as I experience the power of microfinance up close and in person. After my trip, I will be sure to share my personal story with all of you.
