Help Feed San Jose Families During the SNAP Shutdown
Because of the current government shutdown, thousands of families in San Jose who rely on SNAP food assistance have temporarily lost access to their benefits. Many people are struggling to afford groceries right now, and we want to help.
Habbas Law is donating $15,000 and Arteaga’s Food Center in Alum Rock is contributing another $5,000 to start. On Sunday, November 9, at Arteaga’s Food Center (2620 Alum Rock Ave, San Jose, CA 95116), we’ll be covering the cost of groceries for SNAP recipients and anyone affected by the shutdown.
Groceries will be provided per household through a simple sign-up process at the event. Each household will receive help with their grocery costs, and while we expect to cover around $100 per household, that amount may increase depending on how much additional support comes in through this GoFundMe.
Local food vendors and suppliers are also joining in to provide extra goods and essentials, so every participating family will leave with more than just groceries.
We’re starting with $20,000, but we’re opening this GoFundMe to invite others in the community to join in. Every dollar raised will go directly toward helping more families get the food and essentials they need. No overhead, no fees, no middlemen—just direct support for our neighbors.

This is a simple, community effort to make sure no one in our city goes hungry during a tough time. Every contribution, big or small, makes a real difference.
Who this fundraiser supports:
Families in San Jose who are experiencing financial hardship, food insecurity, or just need a little help to get through the week. Our goal is simple: make sure as many households as possible receive support during this time.
Who is organizing this:
My name is Anthony, and I run the SanJoseFoos community page. Over the years we’ve organized toy drives, community events, and charitable activations that have brought thousands of people together. This fundraiser is another way for us to give back to the people who make this city special.
How donations will be used:
I will be receiving the donations directly and using the funds exclusively to buy groceries and grocery vouchers in bulk. Everything purchased will be distributed in person to families at our community events. None of the money goes to personal use, administrative costs, salaries, or anything outside of providing food and essentials.
