Help Feed & Provide Medical Care to 20 Congolese Families

Donation protected
DR Congo is facing an ongoing crisis of forced labor, deadly starvation, and lack of access to medical care—and you can help by donating, or by following the other calls to action at the end of this fundraiser's description.

It only costs $30 USD (or around 25€) to feed a family for five days. $70 (60€) treats malaria, or helps an ebola-afflicted family get some medical support.

Our goal is to feed 20 families for a month, and help several ebola and malaria afflicted people receive proper treatment.

My husband and I are organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my friend, Ndahashuba. He is an incredible Congolese activist I had the joy and honor of meeting in a conference in Kenya where we worked together to fight human trafficking. Every week, Ndahashuba gives what assistance he can to his family, friends, orphans he works with, and others in need in his community. But, his own income is limited, so we're working to get international aid sent directly to those most in need.

DR Congo is also facing a new ebola epidemic, with over 1000 people infected and over 300 who have passed away. Ndahashuba shared with me that many people, like Mama Feza in the photos above, can only receive care from family members who give inadequate medicine at home. These funds will help impacted families receive proper care, nutrition, and take care of newly orphaned children.

Together, we can directly prevent loss of life of around 300-400 people. It is primarily people in Goma (the war-afflicted center in Eastern DRC), orphans, and families with active medical crises who will receive immediate assistance. Many of them are children, and many of those children are survivors of war, persecution, and trafficking.

There is no one I trust more to deliver food, medical care, and direct funds to his people than Ndahashuba. He has a full heart, a generous spirit, and has lived the struggles he now works to help others through.

We will transfer 100% of money raised (minus GoFundMe and currency exchange/transfer fees) directly to Ndahashuba, who lives and works in DR Congo. To make sure people get assistance as soon as possible, funds will be transferred within 2-3 weeks of receiving them from GoFundMe. So, the faster we raise money, the faster we can prevent starvation and provide medical care to malaria and ebola-afflicted homes.

Calls to action if you can't donate directly:

  • Share a link to this fundraiser on social media, with the text "$30 feeds a family in DR Congo for a month!"

  • Contact family members, friends, and colleagues, and ask them to give $15-$30. (Or more!)

  • If you're an artist, you could sell art prints and donate a portion of all those sold to this fundraiser. It's a great way to get more print sales, while helping Congolese families!

Thank you to everyone who supports this fundraiser. Your generosity makes a real impact in Congolese communities. <3
