Elevator pitch: we want to raise money to buy our local ER doctors and nurses staff meals from our local bars and restaurants. Let's put smiles on the faces of those on the front lines of the COVID-19 outbreak while using our local resources to do it. Two very important birds in our community, one easy-to-throw stone.

Backstory: Our local medical professionals are our first line of defense in this crazy fight against an invisible enemy. In such a volatile and unprecedented time in the history of both mankind and medicine, they are hardly getting enough credit for the hours they are working, innovations they are driving and sacrifices they are making.

Our local bars and restaurants are the heartbeats of our local communities. They feed us, quench our insatiable thirsts, provide outlets for entertainment, AND EMPLOYEE A SHIT TON OF PEOPLE!!!! Tens of millions of people around this country rely upon them being open as a source of income as much as enterntainment.

BOTH INDUSTRIES NEED OUR HELP RIGHT NOW. LET'S HELP THEM HELP EACH OTHER!!!

The plan: We will pick a favorite locally-owned bar/restaurant three times per week, and drop off a meal that can feed 50 heads to one of our local hospitals actively combating COVID-19.

Friends and I did a trial run on Saturday March 28th and took sandwiches for 50 from Rubicon Deli to the ER docs and nurses at Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego. THE DOCS AND NURSES WERE WAY TOO EXCITED ABOUT A SANDWICH AND A SALAD! AND RUBICON WAS WAY MORE THAN WILLING TO HELP THE CAUSE!

This made us think, "what if we could do this a few times a week until this all passes!?" We raised enough money between friends to put smiles on 50 deserving peoples' faces... in a span of about 20 minutes. How much can we raise with the power of social media and, more importantly, the power of our community?

Quick financial breakdown (based on what we did on 3/28):
- $500/meal (fed ~50, not including tip)
- 3 meals/week x 3 total weeks = 9 meals
- 9 total meals x $500 meal = $4500
- $250 for the 2.9% + $.30/transaction fee

Happy to keep it going as much/long as funds allow, so don’t stop at $4750!!!
