Help Feed & Empower Kenya's Children in the slums
Donation protected
Hi everyone! For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Brennan and I’m the owner of Glossy Getaways, a hosted international travel group.
This September 2025, a group of 25 men and women will be embarking on our FOURTH journey to Kenya! I couldn’t be more excited for everyone who is attending this Getaway.
During our time in Kenya, I’ve set one very special day aside to do a community give-back in the slums of Nairobi, called Kibra. These are the LARGEST slums on the entire continent of Africa. This is a community in dire need of assistance. A community where children and families can go days without a full meal and lack access to the most basic necessities like free running water.
Young girls and single mothers often cannot afford or have daily access to simple things like sanitary products for their monthly cycle, or even access to products to help take care of their children.
We are working hands-on with an organization called SOKA Samaritan, which is run by two men who were both born and raised in the slums of Kibra and have joined forces to create this amazing organization. These two men fund their program off of wages made from being freelance photographers, yet they are still heavily reliant on the monetary donations from well-wishers.
When they’re able to afford it, they fund feeding programs in their village, which feeds around 200+ hungry children, single mothers, and elderly people within the community. They are providing many children the only meal they receive on those days. They are also heavily involved with educating the youth and often host mental health classes for young children and single mothers as life in the slums can be a hard environment to survive in.
They also teach young girls how to use pads and help them try to gain more access to these sanitary products. They educate young girls on domestic violence and their rights as women, the dangers of drug use... I could go ON AND ON! Even during moments when they can’t afford it, they still provide a safe space for hundreds of kids to seek refuge.
Not all heroes wear capes! They are true upstanding members of their community.
It is my hope to raise $1,500 to put directly towards the program at SOKA so they can continue to feed the malnourished and hungry children in the slums and expand their program so that more young mothers and children of all ages can have a safe space to go to during times of need.
100% of your donations will be handled by me and put DIRECTLY towards the needs of this community in Kibra.
- Food programs for children, single mothers and the elderly
- Sanitary products for young ladies
- Hygiene products for the youth
- New shoes for the children
- Learning enrichment materials for after school programs at Soka
- Necessities like bottles of water, socks and underclothes
If you've ever wanted to donate to a good cause in Africa, this is the perfect opportunity to do so as we will have our boots on the ground in this hands on community give back.
