Mario is a trusted friend who leads a network of 66 small churches working across Colombia and Venezuela. For years, these churches have been a lifeline for people facing unimaginable hardship—first under the dictatorships of Chavez and Maduro, and now due to ongoing instability, drug trafficking, and runaway inflation. Many Venezuelans have fled, but those who remain are struggling to survive, and even with the recent capture of Maduro, resources are still desperately scarce. The churches that have stayed are not only helping the poor but also supporting those who want to return and rebuild their lives. Mario and his network work together across the border, making shoes and clothes, sharing the good news of Jesus Christ, and meeting practical needs wherever they can. They also help people learn skills and find work so they can care for their families. The immediate plan is to buy food at lower prices in Colombia and move it to where it’s needed most in Venezuela. Donations will go directly toward buying food for people who have nothing. If there is ever an excess, it can be sold in Venezuela at a lower price than government stores, and the proceeds used to buy more food in Colombia—multiplying the impact of every dollar. Funds may also support making clothes and shoes, which are distributed in the same way. The goal is to use every resource as responsibly as possible to help the greatest number of people. I’ve seen this work firsthand. I’ve traveled to Venezuela to provide medical care, and I can vouch for the pastors’ integrity—they are not living easy lives or taking resources from those in need. There is a huge heart for the children, too. The churches organize group activities that bring hope and community. I’ll never forget the time I brought toys for the children during a medical clinic. They were so curious but didn’t take anything until we offered, and then they shared everything as a group. It was so sweet and inspiring. If anyone is willing to help, I have no words other than thank you. I’ve reached out to large organizations, but due to safety concerns, they can’t help. My family has supported Mario for years, but the need is beyond what we can do alone. I hate to ask for money, but the situation is dire, and the stories I hear now are even worse than what I saw a few years ago. Local leaders like Mario know the people and the area, and they can safely and effectively multiply limited resources. I truly believe this is the best way to help right now, while we pray for a better future for everyone in Venezuela.
