Hello all,
As we all know, starting November 1st, SNAP benefits will be restricted for the month of November and for the foreseeable future. This puts the most vulnerable of our community at risk of malnutrition and hunger. Many of us are 1-2 paychecks away from hunger or homelessness ourselves.
Please consider joining us to help bridge that gap in our community. I have outlined a grocery list that is enough to make at least 3 complete meals to feed a family of 4. Our goal is to feed at least 50 families in the Metro DC area. Each bag will contain:
1 reusable bag
1 head of cabbage
A few onions
A few potatoes
1 pack of dried white rice
1 pack of dried lentils
1 carton of shelf stable milk
1 box of pancake mix
1 box of mac and cheese
1 sachet of mashed potato
1 can of corned beef
1 can of corn
1 can of green beans
1 can of pasta sauce
The total cost of these goods is roughly $800. Our starting point is currently at $300, which means we will need at least $500 to meet our goal. I invite you to donate if you are in a position to do so. If you are uncomfortable with donating directly, I can direct you to the websites that we will be ordering from in bulk. You have the option to select any quantity of items from the list above and have them shipped to a designated location. Anything, no matter how small, truly helps!
I am looking to raise the funds/get the supplies together by 11/7 to distribute by 11/9 as this will mark 1 week that our brothers and sisters have gone without food assistance.
James 2:14-17 “What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? Suppose a brother or sister without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, “Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it. In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action is dead.”
If you have any questions regarding where or how to donate, please reach out to any of our members directly.
Your help is greatly appreciated,
