A Cry from My Soul: The Heartbreaking Story of Four Little Angels Left Behind

My name is Fatima Idowu, and I’m writing this not just as a plea for help, but as a broken-hearted sibling, an overwhelmed guardian, and most importantly—as a voice for four innocent children who have seen too much pain for their tender ages.

Fifteen months ago, my brother Ben was a proud father of three beautiful children—Ayo (12), Semilore (9), and Overcomer (7). He lived in Nigeria with his beloved wife, Sekinat. Their love was one that defied logic—boundless, unshakable, and admired by all who knew them. They were inseparable. You couldn’t mention Ben without Sekinat. It was a divine kind of love, a rare bond forged in heaven and made manifest here on Earth.

On the 2nd of November, 2023, that love story met a tragic twist. While giving birth to their fourth child, a baby girl named AyeOpe, Sekinat passed away. AyeOpe arrived as a mirror image of her mother—a living reminder of a love cut short too soon. My brother, shattered beyond words, could not bear to part with his newborn, even for a second. Though our family reached out repeatedly, offering to help with the care of the baby and the other children, Ben refused. He clung tightly to all four children, determined to raise them himself—alone.

He gave up sleep. He gave up rest. He gave up every ounce of himself.

Ben became mother and father, night and day, strength and shelter. He bathed the baby, fed her every few hours through the night, prepared the others for school, helped with homework, cooked, cleaned, consoled. In between all of this, he still tried to run his small business to provide for their needs. He was exhausted, yet relentless—loving, yet lonely—breaking, yet unbowed. He carried his grief like a cross, and his children like treasures.

But no man can fight forever.

On the night of February 26th, 2025, Ben suffered a heart attack. He was rushed to the hospital, but it was too late. He was pronounced dead on arrival. My brother died alone, leaving behind his four children—orphans in the blink of an eye.

That night felt like the end of the world. Darkness fell and refused to lift. My chest still aches from the scream that tore through my body when I received the news. How does one explain to a child that both their parents are gone, forever? What words can console a 12-year-old who suddenly has to be strong for her siblings when she can barely process her own grief?

Now, I am their only anchor.

Though I live in the U.S. and have children of my own that I already support, I have taken these four broken hearts under my wing. I’ve done everything within my power to fund their lives, to keep them fed, clothed, and comforted. But now we are at a critical crossroads—a point where their healing requires more than I alone can provide.

I need help.

My goal is to raise $10,000 to give these children a real second chance at life. The funds will be used to:

Secure a safe, small home for them in Nigeria

Hire a responsible caregiver who can give them the attention they need

Provide them with nutritious food and basic essentials

Enroll them in a new school away from the shadows of their past

Give them the emotional and educational stability every child deserves

This is more than a donation. It’s a seed of hope sown into the lives of four little ones who have known loss too early. Your support can wipe away their tears, steady their future, and restore the brightness in their eyes.

I never imagined I’d ever have to ask for help like this. But love makes you do what pride never could. I am pleading—if God touches your heart through this story, please give. No amount is too small when it comes from a place of love.

Let us build a bridge from their sorrow to safety, from their loss to light. Join me in honoring Ben and Sekinat by helping to give their children a life worth living.

May God replenish you in ways beyond imagination. Amen.

Thank you.
