Fundraiser for a Father & Son Held at Gunpoint During Robbery
No parent should ever have to fear for their child’s life — but that’s exactly what happened during what should have been a simple, everyday moment.
Earlier today, while meeting to purchase an e-bike near SW Rochelle & Durango, a father and his young son were suddenly ambushed and robbed at gunpoint by what appeared to be three teenagers wearing hoods and masks. The suspects pointed modified Glocks equipped with extended mags , retracting them only after demanding money.
In that terrifying moment, this father did what every parent prays they’d have the strength to do. He shielded his son with his own body — keeping his back toward the gunmen and his son’s back pressed into his stomach — after handing over the money and calmly telling the suspects, “We didn’t see anything.” His only focus was keeping his child alive.
They got away with $1,200 — money that was meant for the e-bike, not stolen in fear.
Thankfully, both father and son survived, and police responded quickly. SWAT even tracked the suspects to a nearby house before they managed to escape. The trauma, however, is real and immediate.
This fundraiser is to help replace the $1,200 that was stolen in addition to enough to go buy a new bike as to not deal with this again and to support the family as they navigate the impact of the incident — emotionally, mentally, and financially. Dad did everything right, and he protected his son with bravery that deserves more than just words.
No one expects to be robbed at gunpoint. No one budgets for trauma.
And no child should ever have to witness something like this.
If you are able, please donate any amount. Every dollar helps ease the burden after an experience no parent or child should ever go through. Even sharing this fundraiser helps more than you know.
Thank you for showing compassion, community, and support.
Together, we can help this father and son recover from something no family should endure.
