Help Family with Travel and Medical Expenses for Newborn
Donation protected
On 11/11/24, my sister-in-law went into early labor and had to have an emergency C-section. Once my nephew was born, my sister-in-law went into cardiac arrest and was placed in an induced coma for 24 hours. She has since been recovering and was finally released home. She has a long road ahead, but we are very hopeful.
Unfortunately, my nephew is still in ICU and was recently transferred to another hospital about an hour and a half away (3 hours round trip) from where my brother and sister-in-law reside. The hospital has been running tests to try and figure out what is going on with my nephew. His blood sugar keeps dropping, and his bilirubin levels keep rising. They have currently started him on a 5-day course of medication, after which they will run something called a HEPA scan to see if he has biliary atresia, a rare liver disease that affects newborns, causing scarring and blockage of the bile ducts.
We are asking for support to help them as they travel back and forth, as my brother-in-law is the only one working while his wife is still recovering.
