Help Family with Special Needs After Tragic Loss
Donation protected
I am raising funds for a dear friend of mine and her family who just lost their son to a four-year battle with leukemia. He leaves behind a family mourning his loss. On top of that, their everyday is filled with extra challenges as his two younger brothers require special care. His youngest brother has medically complex Down syndrome: he is wheelchair-bound and requires nutrition through a g-tube. These complications make everyday activities and needs (doctor visits, school, bathing, clothing, etc.) more challenging than those of a neurotypical kindergarten child. The middle brother has severe autism. He is an active, artistic, excited 15-year-old who also requires special care and attention. In the twelve years that I've known this family, mom's tender care and unwavering support of her sons has inspired me to be a better mother. With this recent loss, we in the small circle of women supporting her realize her needs surpass our abilities. We have big dreams (a handicap-accessible van to replace the one they have now that requires regular repair to run safely, a ranch-style home so moving their youngest from space to space is safer than in their current two-story apartment, a yard so the high school son can run safely) and we'd love your help.
