I am the teacher, Susan Ahmed Al-Hajj, a mother of four children, the youngest of whom is a one-year-old girl who was born during the war. My eldest daughter is Jana, my other daughter is Sama, my son Ahmed, and my youngest daughter is Sana. I used to work as a teacher and I
had a beautiful house in the devastated city of Rafah. My house was destroyed and we were displaced among the destroyed houses, homeless from one place to another, suffering the bitterness of hunger and the loss of our home and searching for milk for my hungry daughter and sanitary diapers. Now, my children and I are in this difficult place, unable to provide a loaf of bread or a plate of food that would suffice their empty stomachs. I have only knocked on this door out of my urgent need, which I and my children are going through in a tent that does not protect us from the cold of winter or the heat of summer. Everything here calls us to death.
Today, my family and I live among the ruins of what once was our life. Despite everything, we hold on to a glimmer of hope, praying for peace and for a chance to rebuild. For now, our only goal is survival. But deep inside, we still dream of a day when our lives will no longer be defined by war but by hope and opportunity.
How Your Donations Can Help:
Evacuating My Family of Six from Gaza: The cost of coordination and permits to leave Gaza is approximately $5,000 per person, totaling $30,000 for my entire family.
Securing Shelter and Initial Living Expenses in Egypt: Your support will help us find a safe and stable place to live in Egypt, covering rent and basic needs as we adjust to a new environment.
Overcoming the Economic Challenges of War: The siege on Gaza has caused severe shortages of food and water, skyrocketing prices, and immense hardships. Your kindness will help us secure necessities and start rebuilding our lives.
Your generosity can give my family a chance to escape the devastation, protect the next generation, and restore hope for a peaceful and dignified life. Thank you for standing with us during these incredibly difficult times
I can no longer find the words to describe what we’re going through. Each day is harder than the one before. Prices have reached levels no human being can afford:
1 kg of sugar – $120
1 kg of flour – $60
1 kg of rice – $45
1 kg of pasta or potatoes – $30
1 kg of lentils – $26
1 kg of tomatoes or eggplants – $24
We’re no longer seeking variety in food — we’re just trying to survive. There are days when we don’t have a proper meal at all, just some lentils or boiled water.
Vegetables have become a luxury. There's no electricity, water is scarce, and the markets are either empty or filled with goods we simply cannot afford.
This is no longer just about poverty — we are living a real famine under bombardment, with no safety, and no ability to secure even the most basic necessities.
Hasbunallah wa ni’mal wakeel – God is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs.
If you're reading this and you’re able to help, even with 5 dollar — your support could literally save us from hunger. Every donation, no matter how small, makes a real difference.
