This Christmas, please help us bring some warmth to two Ukrainian families!

My name is Mira and I have extended family in Ukraine who are in urgent need of generators to keep their families warm as the rocket attacks continue and the deep freeze settles in.

When my thirteen-year-old, Lily, found this out, she said let's set up a GO FUND ME account! That way lots of people can pitch in. So that’s exactly what we’re doing. :)

More about the families and their situation

On November 15, 2022, heavy shelling targeted the hydro plants and the families had no power for 53 hours. Our cousin Halyna Doberchak works as a teacher in Zbarazh. She had to hide with her students in a storage room. Her daughter, Marianna, is studying at the Academy nearby and managed to get home. They get 3-4 hours of electricity daily but do not know when it will come on. "It's like a competition,” Halyna says, "and if they give light in the middle of the night, then we get up to wash clothes." Half of her income goes towards heating her home.

Our cousin Roman Kohut is serving in the army. His wife, Oksana, would benefit significantly from a generator for their home as well.

Each 5 KW generator costs 40-60,000 hryvnias or $1485-$2225 CDN.

Our goal

We are hoping to raise $5000 asap. On December 10, 2022, there was once again heavy shelling targeting the power plants, and severe frosts are on their way.
