Help for family in Ukraine (Sumy)

Hello, my name is Tamara Fine.

 

I was born and raised in Ukraine, a place where my mother and father settled since WWII. I immigrated to the United States from Ukraine with my family’s blessings, all of whom still remain there. Twenty years ago, when I left my country, we were at peace, and sadly on February 24th, we all have become aware of the war being waged against Ukraine and the impact on the people, my family included. As this situation escalates, it is causing food costs to drastically increase and causing shortages of essential everyday items like water while electrical, and heat costs are also soaring.

 

Those who are able to have begun to leave to safer regions, and I am relieved for them and their families. However, many more—including my mother and siblings—are unable to leave and must remain in order to look after my mother, who is elderly and is unable to begin their journey to a safer place.

 

In February, when people reached out to me offering assistance, I had thanked them for their emotional support. And believing this conflict would be short-lived, I had told them that their financial support would not be necessary. I wish I could say that today that is so, but sadly it is not.

 

I am creating this fundraising project to help financially support my family and their immediate community of friends so that they may have the resources they need for food and water, and to assure that their electrical and heating bills will be paid for without interruption and that I through your assistance can continue as the needs arise to help with any hygiene needs, medications, medical emergencies.

 

I am reaching out for your support to continue to bring relief to my immediate family and their circle of friends, all of whom are supporting one another during this crisis. Please know that your financial support is deeply appreciated on behalf of myself and my family, and I am very grateful for the difference you will make in their lives.

P.S. These two boys in the picture are my sister's grandsons; that's how they live now, in a bunker. Please keep praying for peace in Ukraine and my family's safety. God bless you all! 

Update as of today, 3/14/2022: my sister's father-in-law had stroke on 2/13/2022 and he passed away this morning.
