Help Kawsu's Wife and Unborn Child After Shooting

What Happened? On March 20, 2023, a 34-year-old man, Kawsu Samba was shot at his workplace MSI Auto Sales in Middleton, Wisconsin.

Why Am I Asking for Help? I was shocked and deeply saddened because, within the past month, I had met Kawsu and his place of work was very near my home. My wife first met Kawsu as she wanted to buy a vehicle. She returned home and asked me to come to meet the kind and interesting man she had spoken to at the car dealership. She knew I was not so interested in purchasing a car now, but I accompanied her as she made her second visit to talk with Kawsu. The three of us chatted for some time about various cultures, life things, and of course the vehicle of interest. My wife had been right about Kawsu, he was a very interesting and kind person. We did not buy the car at this time, but we were both happy at meeting Kawsu. Each day, I passed the dealership, I thought of the interesting person who I had met there.

When I heard of the tragedy that Kawsu had been shot by an angry customer I was deeply saddened and upon hearing that he had a wife and unborn child, my feelings of sadness became truly personal.

Who Is Your Donation Helping?

I have children too, and if it were possible, I know that Kawsu would ask me, “if something happens to me just take care of my wife and child.” His child will not know his father, but I want to do what I can to help his wife and their unborn child at this time.

Now you know why I am asking you to help this young family. There are so many tragedies and hardships each day, but for those who have met Kawsu helping his family is personal. I hope that the kind people of Middleton, Wisconsin where Kawsu worked will consider helping his family, I hope that the city of Madison, Wisconsin will have people who have empathy for a family who has lost their husband and father, and I hope those who knew him through soccer and during his time at UW-Parkside will consider helping. Yet how wonderful it would be if even more strangers who have empathy can donate a little to help this family in need.

Also, know that I first reached out to Wisconsin State Representative Samba Baldeh who represents the 48th Assembly District where Kawsu’s family lives. After checking with the family, he assured me of how appreciative the family would be for help, but that they are grieving and he helped me work with some family members to prepare this GoFundMe. All your heartfelt donations will go directly to his wife and unborn child to help them at this time when they have lost a husband and father who worked hard to support them.
