UPDATE — August 25, 2026

Yesterday, on Monday, August 24th, 2026, I had to say my final goodbye to my dad at his funeral.

I still cannot fully comprehend that he is never coming back.

Everything still feels so unreal.

I am incredibly grateful to the 8 kind people who have supported me so far. Together, you have donated €291, and I truly cannot thank you enough. Every single donation means a lot to me.

But unfortunately, I am still facing approximately €11,000 in expenses related to my dad's funeral and everything that now has to be taken care of after his death.

The fundraiser has received very little attention so far, and I am honestly scared because I don't know how I am going to cover everything. I know everyone has their own struggles, and I never wanted to ask strangers for money. But I don't know what else to do.

So I am asking once again: If you are able to help, even with a few euros or dollars, I would be incredibly grateful.

And if you cannot donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser. A share can reach someone who might be able to help.

Thank you for being here and for taking the time to read about my dad. ❤️

My dad suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm and lost consciousness almost immediately. Shortly afterwards, on the same day, he experienced a second brain bleed at the hospital and had to undergo several hours of emergency surgery.

He had fallen into a coma because of the severe bleeding in his brain and never regained consciousness, even after the surgery. The doctors told us that his prognosis was very, very poor. We continued to hope and pray for a miracle every single day.

But he was just too badly injured.

Five weeks ago, on Monday, July 20th, 2026, my daddy died...

I still struggle to understand that those were the last days I would ever have with him. He was here, and then suddenly he wasn't.

I keep having these little moments where I think, “Oh, I need to call Dad and tell him this.”

And then I remember.

I can't.

I will never hear his voice again. I will never be able to hug him again. I will never see his name appear on my phone again. I will never be able to ask him for advice or simply tell him something that happened during my day.

I don't think you can ever truly prepare yourself for losing a parent.

And right now, it still doesn't feel real.

What I Am Facing Now

While I am trying to process losing my dad, there is also a long list of things that now have to be taken care of.

His funeral has taken place, but the financial responsibilities do not end with the funeral.

I am facing the costs of the funeral and burial, the engraving for his gravestone, rent and utilities during the notice period for his apartment, expenses related to his allotment garden, clearing out his apartment, outstanding bills, and other costs that come with settling everything after his death.

Based on the expenses I currently know about, I expect the total to be approximately €11,000.

This is an estimate, as some costs are still being finalized and there may be additional expenses that I don't know about yet.

Estimated Expenses

  • Funeral, burial, grave and municipal fees — approximately €4,000

  • Engraving for the gravestone — approximately €1,300

  • Three months of rent during the notice period — approximately €1,800

  • Utilities during the notice period — approximately €450

  • Allotment garden rent, community hours and related costs — approximately €1,000

  • Emptying and clearing out the apartment — approximately €1,500

  • Outstanding bills — approximately €350

  • Additional possible expenses — approximately €500

Estimated total: approximately €11,000

I know that €11,000 is a lot of money. I also know that everyone has their own struggles and that not everyone is in a position to donate.

If you are able to contribute, no matter how small the amount, I would be incredibly grateful.

And if you cannot donate, please don't feel bad. Sharing this fundraiser with someone else would already mean so much to me.

Thank you for taking the time to read my dad's story.

And thank you for remembering him. ❤️
