Helping My Daughter’s Family Adopt Her Sister’s Baby After a Sudden Loss
I’m reaching out with a full heart and a humble request on behalf of my daughter Shelby and her husband Joe.
As many of you know, our family recently suffered a heartbreaking loss with the sudden passing of my daughter’s half sister, Evie. In the middle of this grief, something beautiful is unfolding — Shelby and Joe are stepping in with open arms and open hearts to adopt Evie’s 9-month-old baby, who has now lost both of her parents.
This decision came suddenly and without preparation, but there was never a moment of hesitation.
They already have three young children of their own, and yet their hearts are wide enough to love one more. They are doing everything they can to make this possible — not just emotionally, but practically. That’s why I created this fundraiser to support them.
The financial reality of an unexpected adoption is overwhelming. They are now facing the costs of:
• Airfare and travel back and forth to Washington state to bring the baby home
• Adoption attorney and legal fees
• Needing to move into a larger home to accommodate their growing family
• Purchasing a bigger vehicle that seats more than 5
• All the essentials for a baby — crib, car seat, stroller, diapers, formula, clothing, and more
They are trusting God through every step of this journey, but I know it would lift such a burden if we could rally around them right now. Every single dollar helps bring baby home to a family who already loves her so deeply.
If you feel led to give — thank you. If you can’t give financially but would like to share this post, pray, or offer help in other ways, our family is beyond grateful. We are believing that beauty can rise from heartbreak, and that this little one will grow up surrounded by the love and support they deserve.
Thank you for standing with us in this sacred moment.
With love,
Lynn
