About five years ago, my grandmother fell in the kitchen. No one noticed until some time had passed, and although we called 911 right away and got her to the hospital, the delay left her with permanent brain damage. Later, a friend’s grandfather, who lived alone in another state, fell at home. His family didn’t find out until the next day. That experience made me realize that falls among elderly people are a common and serious problem — and their families can’t always be there to help right away. Since then, I’ve been determined to invent a device that can detect falls instantly and alert loved ones, so other families don’t have to face the same heartbreak.
I’ve developed FallGuard, an AI-powered device designed to detect falls and send immediate alerts to family members. My goal is to provide these devices for free to families who need them most, especially those with elderly loved ones living alone. Every donation will go directly toward building more devices, buying materials, and covering shipping costs so that no family has to wait for help when it matters most.
According to the World Health Organization, more than 1,800 people die from falls every single day. Behind each number is a family who never expected it to happen. Today, over 400 families are already waiting for a FallGuard device. Many of them live with daily anxiety, worrying that a fall might happen when no one is around to help. I am doing everything I can to deliver FallGuard to them as quickly as possible, but I cannot do this alone. With your help, we can reach these families sooner — and maybe save a life before it’s too late.
