My name is Fabiola, and I am one of the members patrolling Renee Goods Sanctuary since the day she passed away. I also run a small construction business, and my team has become like family to me. Recently, our lives have been turned upside down because ICE has been in town. Neither I nor my workers are able to go out and work, as my guys are very afraid of being detained by federal agents. For the past two months, we have not been able to earn an income, and my workers are now facing the real fear of being evicted from their homes and struggling to put food on the table for their families.
While I continue my labor patrolling the sanctuary and raising my voice for justice, I am also trying to help my workers stay safe and provide for their loved ones. I am a single mom who has worked very hard over the years to create a strong, supportive team. Now, the same fear that my sons and I feel each time we leave our home is shared by my workers, who worry about being separated from their children and having their families divided.
I am asking for your help to keep my workers and their families safe until we can return to work. Any support you can give will help us stay together, avoid eviction, and ensure there is food on the table for everyone. God bless you all for your support and kindness.
