Hi, my name is Ezra and I am a 21-year old black trans person. I currently live with my grandparents, but I would like to move out as soon as possible. I live in an abusive household, and although the majority of the abuse is not directed towards me, it does take a huge toll on my mental health. My grandmother is verbally and emotionally abusive to my grandfather and feels the need to scream at him directly outside of my bedroom door almost every day. I do not have a car nor do I drive, so leaving home while they argue is not a possibility. I have tried encouraging both of them to separate on many occasions, but they seem to have no intentions to get a divorce. Furthermore, my grandmother has been getting more agitated with my grandfather lately and I am incredibly nervous that things will escalate to physical violence or worse. I’ve attempted communicating my concern to some other adults in my life but they don’t seem to care. I currently do not speak to my grandmother at all and avoid her to the best of my ability while in the home to prevent more arguments.

I was working full-time up until June 2024, when I had to leave my job due to feeling unsafe (I reported one of my managers for making pedophilic comments towards a minor employee and he found out, he started acting very strangely towards me and I was worried about retaliation). For the past month, I’ve been job hunting but so far have not been able to find work, so at the moment I am unemployed and unable to put any of my own money towards leaving this environment. In addition to not being able to save up to move out, now that I have no steady source of income I also need assistance in paying for other bills I have.

My mother passed away in 2021 and I am not in contact with my father, so turning to my parents isn't an option. I'm not very close with my family in the first place, and none of the relatives I speak to are in any position to let me live with them, short-term or long-term.
