Help EWB-HU Bring Clean Water to Kogwari Community in Kenya
Donation protected
We are Engineers Without Borders - Howard University Chapter. We focus on community service in local and abroad communities in need. We've helped the DC community by volunteering at community gardens, cleaning parks, empowering students at a low graduation rate high school, and of course, building connections with Howard students across campus. Abroad, we've traveled to Peru to implement sustainable infrastructure, Kenya and El Salvador for water based projects, and other international communities in need. Our current abroad community service project will be helping the Kogwari community in Nyanza, Kenya. This community is in need of clean water for consumption and for daily household uses. In the past, they've tried to use water pans to collect water; however, the sides eroded, and the water became too contaminated to use. Now they need a more reliable source of clean water, including a storage and distribution system so the water can reach the whole community. Your donation will help fund the first step in this multiyear engineering project which is to conduct an assessment trip. On this trip we'll connect with the community, examine the issue and possible solutions in detail, and design a system to source, store, and distribute the clean water the Kogwari community needs to live a better life.
You can help us with our mission to not only help the Kogwari community but also help up-and-coming minority engineers gain hands-on experience while making a difference!
