My name is Evelin, and I am a single mother doing my best to care for my three wonderful children: Jayden (17), Naomy (13), and Aldany (11). Recently, our lives were turned upside down when the home we were renting was suddenly condemned. We were given almost no notice and had to leave the very next day. With no savings to fall back on, we found ourselves with nowhere to go, and now my children and I are living in a shelter.

This has been especially hard on my youngest, Aldany, who has duplication of chromosome 2P syndrome and depends fully on me for care. Because of our current situation, Aldany had to relocate to a nursing care facility for now, and it breaks my heart to be separated from him. Every day, I do everything I can to keep my children safe, fed, and hopeful for a better future. But the challenges of starting over from nothing are overwhelming, and it’s difficult to see a way forward on my own.

Our greatest wish is to find a new place to call home—a safe and stable environment where my children can feel secure and, most importantly, where Aldany can come back to live with us.
