Dear friends, family, and kind strangers, I am writing this with a heavy heart, hoping to find a glimmer of hope for my 23-year-old son Evan Mitchell. For the past two years, my son was the personal and constant companion to his grandfather, Joseph Evans Jr. He has a truly caring and empathetic heart, and he dedicated himself to being there for his grandfather every single day. When Joseph passed, he left his car to my son—a gift that represented their deep bond and my son’s newfound independence.
Tragedy struck on March 28th when a careless driver plowed into the side of that car. Thankfully my son was okay, but the car—his cherished link to his grandfather—was totaled. After a long struggle, he finally received a meager insurance settlement. We thought we saw a way forward when a post was shared from our hometown about a car for sale. It looked like a legitimate, unbeatable deal. Wanting only to get back on the road and move forward, my son put his trust in what he thought was a safe community lead.He was scammed.
Every penny of his insurance money—the only funds he had to replace his car—is gone.As a parent, it is devastating to see a young man who has given so much of himself to others be taken advantage of in his most vulnerable moment. We literally have no way to replace the car or the funds on our own. I am praying that there are people out there who can see my son’s heart and help us get him back on his feet. Whether it is a small donation or simply sharing this story, your kindness would mean the world to us.Thank you for taking the time to read about my son and for your prayers.
