Help Evan and Kris In Their Time Of Need
The purpose of this GoFundMe account is to help my incredible warrior of a brother, Evan, and his amazing wife, Kris. For the past 18 days, he has been battling for his life at the Sacred Heart Hospital. 4 months ago, Evan started to have more lower abdominal pain and issues than normal. Pain has never been a stranger to Evan when dealing with his lower abdomen, but the amount and intensity were. The amount got to a point where he wasn't able to continue working. 18 days ago, they decided to admit him into the hospital. These past 72 hours have been life-changing. Saturday, July 31st, he was given a double dose of Remicade as the last chance to help with his pain, swelling, and complications, before taking him into surgery. Sunday, August 1st, he was called into emergency surgery because his abdomen had swelled up immensely. Evan had gone septic. The doctors removed his colon and his large intestine. The nurse explained how diseased his large intestine was because of how easily it DISINEGRATED in her hands after removal. He will have a colectomy bag for the rest of his life. He was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. He will be getting a pathology report to see if he has Crohn's disease or something else.
Today, August 2nd, I was fortunate enough to see my older brother, and my heart ached for him. For those who know Evan, you remember him as a 6 foot 1, 200ish-pound man that is built like a Mac truck. When I walked into his room, I saw a 140-pound man who is trying his hardest to stay alive. These next couple of days are crucial, but I know he is strong enough to push through. His life will never be the same, but he is ALIVE.
His wife Kris has never left his side. She has been the bulldog in his corner, his shoulder to cry on, and so much more in-between.
They need your help. If you are able to, please do. Anything would be appreciated, no matter the amount.
