Estela Roman author of Nuestra Medicina, de los Remedios para el Aire y Los Remedios para el Alma ((currently being translated in English)) is in need of our support.
Maestra Roman has been an activist serving the needs of sentient beings for the majority of her life. She has been active in rescuing and promoting different traditional healing practices, encouraging the participation of women, children and oppressed peoples, honoring the ancestral wisdom of elders. She has been involved in education of different aspects of health and environment, as well as traditional customs and practices. Her abuela and other relatives were well known for practicing traditional methods of healing using techniques of massage, herbal medicine, and spiritual purification or “limpias.” These practices have made her achieve an extensive experience in healing and reducing peoples pain. Lately her focus has been rescuing animals and healing them using herbal medicine. Over the last few years, she has rescued over 20+ cats and started recently treating dogs. Her medicine continues to help all alive beings - especially her students.
For the last 10 years she feels lucky to have acquired old vehicles that have served the community. La Paloma, la venadita, her recent jeep has taken people, children and animals to so many places, including to visit elders, taking animals to safe shelter, bringing food to people in need during natural disasters; impacting many communities. Her Jeep has been so useful to many and has made her activism work easier, but her Jeep has become unrepairable and right now our Maestra is without safe transportation. We are fundraising money so Maestra Estela can have a reliable car that will help her achieve her many purposes: serving the community, bringing her students to visit elders and of course, continuing to care for animals that need her care too
Maestra Estela Roman has deeply impacted my life, work - my own purpose. I immediately jumped at the offer to fundraise getting her the tools she needs to continue this work. We, as her students and community members, are so deeply hoping we can help her reach this goal and use this money to get her a reliable and safe vehicle.
