My life changed in an instant when I was riding in the back of a bus on Phinney Road. Suddenly, the bus started hitting cars, and chaos broke out as several women up front yelled for the driver to stop. I fought my way to the front, being thrown around as the bus kept moving. When I reached the driver, I realized something was terribly wrong—he was unresponsive, and I had to act fast. I tried to get his attention, but he didn’t react, so I started pounding on his chest while trying to steer the bus. I managed to throw the bus into neutral and hit the brakes, but in the process, my shoulder and face went through the windshield. Somehow, I got the bus to the side of the road, put on the air brakes, and pulled the driver out to safety. Afterward, I was taken to the hospital for my injuries. Since that day, everything has been a struggle. I lost my job and, without any income, I couldn’t pay my bills or rent. Now, I’m staying in a homeless shelter, trying to recover from my injuries and figure out my next steps. On top of everything, I’m now dealing with nerve damage and sharp pains down my leg and arm, which makes daily life even harder. It’s been overwhelming, but I’m doing my best to stay hopeful and keep moving forward. I’m reaching out for help because I need support to get back on my feet. The funds raised will help me pay my bills, find stable housing, and support myself while I recover from my injuries and look for work.
