Dear Family, Friends, Supporters, and Compassionate Strangers,

My name is Eric Schlegel, and I’ve created this campaign because my family is on the brink of losing everything. After working faithfully for nearly 11 years, I was unexpectedly laid off two months ago. Since then, life has spiraled into a nightmare I never imagined we’d face.

This campaign was created out of necessity to protect my family from homelessness. On April 14th, 2025, we are set to lose our home. Without urgent support, we’ll be forced onto the streets. That is a reality no parent should have to face, and yet here we are.

Why am I asking for help? Because despite applying to over 20 jobs every single day, I’ve yet to find employment. Florida’s unemployment system provides only $275 a week money we’re not even receiving yet, due to bureaucratic delays and disqualification based on past earnings. Meanwhile, rent, utilities, and food costs haven’t paused for us.

I’m not someone who’s afraid of hard work. I’ve always taken pride in providing for my family. All I want is a chance to get back to work but until that door opens, I’m asking for your help to keep my family safe, warm, and together.

Your donation to this campaign will help us stay housed and stable for the next 2–3 months a lifeline while I continue my aggressive job search. Even the smallest contribution will make a huge difference in giving us hope and breathing room during this crisis.
