Help Eric Get Life-Saving Medical Care

Hi, my name is Meredith.  I’m starting this GoFundMe for my brother Eric who is in need of life-saving medical help and has no insurance to pay for the costs. Applying for Medicaid will take time, and he and his wife have no income now because she needs to take family leave to take care of him. I’m trying to raise money to help them. Asking for this kind of help is big and scary. It’s the kind of thing people have to do when they don’t have anywhere else to turn. And so I’m finding myself having to ask.

Eric is my big brother, my middle brother, my first best friend—mostly because he’d watch cartoons with me on Saturday mornings, and treated me like his arch nemesis and his kid sister. He is an incredible artist, and he’s a good man with a good heart. He’s our family. The one who remembers birthdays and sends holiday greetings, and cracks jokes, and loves puns. He’s who I think of first when I hear the Allman Brothers because of all those hours we’d spend blasting those albums on summer days growing up in NYC in the 1970s. 

Eric is dying, and I am trying to help him and help his wife with the medical costs and the cost of living while his wife, Bethy, takes family leave from her job to care for him while they try to navigate his illness.

Eric is only 66 years old. He is still relatively young and should have years ahead of him, but because he has no insurance or income right now, he has no hope unless we can do something like crowd-sourcing. Eric and his wife Bethy have applied for Medicaid, but in these times, that will take time, and time isn’t something he has. Any help is appreciated so much. I am starting this fundraiser and hoping for help. Thank you for any help you can offer. If you can’t contribute, I understand, but even sharing this fundraiser helps my brother and sister-in-law as they face this emergency.
