Eric Nicely is a friend of my family who is currently homeless and working hard to recover from addiction. In our small town, there are very few resources for people like Eric, and it’s been heartbreaking to see him struggle without a safe place to stay. He’s determined to turn his life around, but being on the streets makes it nearly impossible for him to focus on his recovery and build a better future. He wants to stay where he knows people and not be in a halfway house or rehab somewhere where he doesn’t know where he is. He’s willing to stay with my mom but we don’t have the funds to provide for him to do that.

I am hoping to raise funds to help Eric get off the streets and into a stable environment. Donations will go toward motel stays, possibly renting a camper, food, clothes, and the essentials needed to turn a camper into a comfortable living space if I can make that happen. I will be managing all the funds to make sure Eric has what he needs to feel safe and supported as he continues his recovery journey. Your support could be the turning point that helps him regain hope and stability. He has put in job applications but has no way to get back in touch with them to see if he can get a job. He’s willing to work, just need help getting on his feet. He was willing and ready July 29 to start his process, I am hoping he will continue to want recovery. Even if I could get him in a place for a few days so he can have a bath or shower would be better than being in the hot sun everyday. Eric use to play guitars and drums and was good at it. I’m hoping with this fundraiser maybe we can get him back into doing something he loves.

There is very little help for addicts in recovery in our small town, and I believe that one kind gesture could change the way our community views people who are struggling with addiction or homelessness. I hope this fundraiser will show others that there are people willing to help if someone asks for it. Please consider donating and sharing Eric’s story—your generosity could make all the difference in his life.
